Rates
There are two types of rating valuations used in the Shire of Shark Bay. Gross Rental Valuation (GRV) for land within the townsite and Unimproved Valuations (UV) for outside the townsite, including mining leases and pastoral leases.
Council has implemented the following rate categories:

Landgate provide periodic valuations of all properties within the Shire. If you wish to object to the valuation on your property, this must be done within 42 days of the original issue date of the Rate Notice from Council. Rates must be paid by the nominated due dates even if an objection has been lodged.
Rates 2008/2009
General rates for 2008/2009 have been imposed on the basis of 6.632 cents in the dollar GRV, with a minimum rate set at $366, and 13.0693 cents in the dollar UV, with a minimum rate set at $347, and 3.5149 cents in the dollar UV Pastoralist, with a minimum rate set at $47.
Payment Options
Various pament options are provided to assist in payment of your rate account. A discount of 10% of the assessed rate is allowed for payment within 35 days of the issue date (18 September 2008).
You may elect to make the payment by inslatments:

An administration fee of $6.50 per instalment will apply should option (ii) or (iii) be taken.
Arrangements outside the instalment options will attract a $50.00 payment arrangement fee.
Interest at a rate of 11% will apply for the late ayment of a rate or service charge, which will be applied on rates and or service charges that remain unpaid after it is due and payable and shall continue to accrue until it is paid. Eligible pensioners are exempt.
Pensioners
Rate Notices for Pensioners and Seniors registered to receive a rebate from the State Government will contain the rebate due and net amount payable. Service Charges must be paid by the due date when deferring rates. To become registered for a rebate, Pensioners and Sniors should bring their card to the Shire Office and complete the prescribed form.
Changes in Postal Address
Changes in postal details of property owners must be provided in writing to Council within 21 days of the change occurring.
