Tropical Cyclone Narelle Updates

10:30AM Friday 27/03/26

Sharing on behalf of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services 

"Pursuant to powers delegated under the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, declared under Section 22A of the Bush Fires Act 1954, a total fire ban for 27 March 2026 for the local government districts of:

Carnarvon, Shark Bay, Ashburton, Exmouth.

7:30AM Friday 27/03/26

We have been placed on Emergency Warning. Per DFES -

"A Cyclone Emergency Warning is in place for the Shire of Shark Bay. There is a risk to lives and homes. You are in danger and need to act immediately. You must shelter indoors now. It is too late to leave. Stay in the strongest, safest part of building. Stay away from doors and windows and keep them closed. Keep your emergency kit with you. For more information, visit www.emergency.wa.gov.au, call 13 DFES (13 33 37) or listen to local ABC radio."

5:11pm Thursday 26/03/26

At this stage we are expecting to go on Emergency Warning at 6:00AM tomorrow Friday the 27/03/2026. After this time, you must shelter in place. Fines apply to anyone on the street without good purpose.

The Rec Centre is open for anyone needing to evacuate. There is food, basic toiletries, bedding and cot beds. Please bring clothing for up to 3 days and any small personal items that you need.

Thursday 3:18pm 26/03/26

Shark Bay and Monkey Mia roads will close at 5pm to incoming traffic. The road north of Ajana (turn off to Kalbarri) is closed to northbound traffic from 3pm.

The Denham Maritime Facility (including ramps) is closing at 12:00pm today.

Thursday 10:48am 26/03/26

Tip is OPEN, FREE of charge for cyclone clean up, NO WHITE GOODS. Closing time 3:30pm - unless otherwise advised.

Wednesday 5:09pm 25/03/26

Rex Airlines have advised that they have cancelled services for Friday and Saturday, but have scheduled an additional service has been scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday the 26th of March. The details are as follows

ZL2266 PER-MJK 13:00 - 14:45

ZL2267 MJK - PER 15:05 - 16:55

This will be a direct service in both directions.
